DNS is for email delivery and spam protection.
A file contains malware? Use virustotal to detect malicious files or URLs.
Email reputation checker? Spamhaus to keep track of emerging and traveling cyber-threats.
SPF is Sender Policy Framework, and it lets a domain owner pick where to send an email from, and prevents forgery by validating email and placing it in a SPF DNS record. Thanks ReturnPath!
Pointer Records are also Spam Filters and reverse lookup, that address the IP address to the name.
