Business Bonus: Disney. Just Disney.

The Mouse House is in the news, for some changes people are calling rat-like. If you missed the wheeling and dealing of the release of Scarlett Johansson suing Disney for shortchanging her 'Black Widow' pay, it's one for the history books. But Disney recently released something that may hit closer to home. A pay-per-ride system, Genie+, will be implemented in US parks in the near future. It's reminiscent of the ticket books DisneyLand used in the 60s. Now, it's digital, and apparently similar to MaxPass? Truthfully, I haven't been in a Disney park since about 2012. I'm not a Disney Parks person; I like other aspects of Disney; The Animated Canon and some TV shows. It's a dream of mine to stay at a Deluxe Resort - Riviera or Animal Kingdom's Jambo House. But any further than that, is fun I'll leave for someone else. But I do follow multiple Disney news outlets - and several Disney social media accounts - and most park guests fall into 3 categor

Inside Disney’s Internet Of Things by Christian Sylt [@ Forbes]

I first learned about the article (here ) from the latest edition of The DISUnplugged Podcast , of which I am a weekly listener. While I constantly hear park proprietors complain that a bit of infrastructure has failed to account for the demand when it comes to dining reservations (or recently, park passes due to the reopening of Magic and Animal Kingdom on July 11th ), I've always been interested in how they use technology to encourage guests to give up autonomy, interact with the 'on-stage' setting, and get the most out of their Disney World trip. The last time I was at Walt Disney World (WDW) was in April or May of 2013. While MagicBands were announced in January of 2013 , I'm not sure when they started being given to guests to use with MyMagic+. I never got one.

Ammo for the Streaming Wars: Verizon Customers Get a Year of Disney+ For Free

Article That's an even better deal than one offered to us D23 Members  Well, $140 for 3 years, A year's subscription for D+ is 69$, which is 138$, more or less the cost of one person's service per month when I sold Verizon plans back in 2013. Is this an effort to bolster numbers in the face of T-Mobile and Sprint's approved merger? Perhaps not, as the deal is also given to existing customers of Verizon with 4G LTE and 5G Unlimited Service. Maybe 5G will be capable enough before the deal is over for us to stream from anywhere. Apple also has a deal ; Buy one of their expensive pieces of hardware that costs far more than a year's worth of their service, and get a year for free. No word on if HBO+, or DC Universe, or Quibi, or whatever else I'm missing will break out such deals.
