Fun With Wireshark: On Ubuntu



This is Wireshark 2.6.8 (Git v.2.6.8)


 As with installing anything on Ubuntu, it's never a straightforward process, but it is always a good time to practice inputting commands in the terminal!





Had to get a packaging repository for Ubuntu.

Ubuntu holds resources that another program is using, and I had to stop them all with 'kill'.

Then, finally, we get it to run in root.

This WS screen looks similar to the one on Mojave, but as we're in a virtual machine, there are a few changes: Check out 'Cisco remote capture: ciscodump' at the top. I don't recall that in Mojave Wireshark.



I ping Google. There are a lot of source addresses here. A lot of them were just "From me (10.0.2.15, had to install ifconfig to be sure.) to various Google servers. There's even some loopback addresses in there.



My VB is using NAT (network address translation) to connect to the internet.

We could use bridged to filter data from the physical network, but then we'd be on the home network, no longer separated.

EMPLOYERS: This shows my willingness to keep experimenting with various ways of using the same tool.

Making KPI Dashboards with PowerBI

 While this is the free tier, I cannot share or collaborate with others, nor can I publish content to other people's workspaces, but they will not stop me from screenshooting and recording these self-taught adventures,so! I'm doing this because I idly searched "Mattel careers" and "Information Technology", and seeing a bulletpoint saying the following: Analytical and reporting skills such as creating dashboards and establishing KPIs such as experience with PowerBI, Cognos, Tableau, and Google Data Lake/AWS is preferred And thought "Well, I've used Tableau, and I've heard about PowerBI,  even if its in-demandness is questionable , so how similar is it? And can I write about it?"  First, PowerBI (PIB) does have a downloadable, local version, but apparently Windows-only. Review: Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 True Wireless Bluetooth Earbuds

  Ah yes, almost 3 years ago, I wrote this review (Despite getting the earbuds for Christmas, I wanted to use them for a few months before writing). And in December of 2023, the right one began to get dull regarding sound. I always make sure they're clean - Ear infections are no joke, clean your earbuds - so that wasn't it, I never got the verification code from Samsung to make an account for them to be repaired, and Samsung Support through chat told me to go to my local approved dealer, a random shop 50 miles away that wouldn't actually give me an estimate.
